Will ISM Services PMI be between 53.0 and 53.9 in July?
This is a market about the ISM Services Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for July 2026, as reported by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). A reading above 50 indicates expansion in the services sector relative to the previous month; a reading below 50 indicates contraction. This market will resolve to the bracket containing the ISM Services PMI for July 2026 according to the monthly ISM Services PMI Report On Business. The resolution source for this market will be the ISM Services PMI Report On Business released for July 2026 (https://www.ismworld.org/supply-management-news-and-reports/reports/ism-report-on-business/), currently scheduled to be released on August 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM ET. Resolution of this market will take place upon release of the aforementioned data. Note: although ISM describes the PMI reading using the term "percent" in its official release (e.g., "The Services PMI registered 53.6 percent"), the PMI is a diffusion index, not a true percentage. For the purposes of this market, the PMI reading will be treated as a plain numerical value, consistent with how the index is universally quoted in financial markets. Note: The ISM Services PMI is reported to one decimal point. Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving this market. If ISM does not release the relevant figures on the scheduled date, this market may remain open until the scheduled release time of the next ISM Services PMI report (https://www.ismworld.org/supply-management-news-and-reports/reports/rob-report-calendar/). If the information is not released by that time, this market will resolve according to the figures of the most recent previous month with available data.

The ISM (Institute for Supply Management) Services PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) registered exactly 54.0 in June 2026. The consensus forecast for July 2026 remains clustered around 54.0. Given normal month-to-month variance in the diffusion index, there is a reasonable (but not majority) likelihood that the final figure could dip slightly into the 53.0 to 53.9 bracket.

June 2026 ISM Services PMI registered 54.0. July consensus forecast centers around 53.2-53.6 with typical month-to-month volatility of ~1-2 points. The narrow 53.0-53.9 bracket therefore captures roughly 25-30% probability. ISM will release the July figure on August 5. Strongest evidence is recent ISM reports, seasonal patterns, and economist surveys. Main uncertainty is services employment and new orders components that can swing the diffusion index. Stronger employment data could push into the 54s; weaker new orders could drop it below 53. Bracket probability remains modest given one-decimal precision.

The July ISM Services PMI is released August 5. The index printed 54.0 in June (down 0.5 from 54.5 in May), with a 12-month average of 53.1; the recent monthly standard deviation is roughly 1 point. A simple centered estimate for July is ~53.5-53.8 (continuing the gentle downtrend amid Middle East uncertainty, easing prices index, and mixed orders), which sits inside the 53.0-53.9 bracket. Given the bracket is 0.9 wide against a monthly volatility of ~1, the bracket captures roughly 40% of the probability mass; outcomes >=54.0 (renewed expansion momentum as in most of 2026) or <=52.9 (conflict/tariff drag, as bearish models projecting ~51 suggest) together carry the remaining ~60%.

June ISM Services was 54.0, while the July S&P Global flash services PMI strengthened to 53.6. Those readings put 53.0–53.9 near the center of plausible outcomes, but ISM's monthly volatility and a preview pointing to stronger business activity and new orders leave substantial probability at 54 or higher. The one-point bracket therefore receives about a quarter of the distribution.

The question is whether the ISM Services PMI for July falls between 53.0 and 53.9. PMI‑linked instruments and Treasury‑yield‑based growth indicators imply a reading in the low‑50s but not tightly clustered around 53.0–53.9. The 10‑year yield and equity‑sector rotation suggest a services‑sector expansion but not a strong‑rebound regime; current data are more consistent with a PMI around 52–53 or 54–55, i.e., somewhat outside the 53.0–53.9 band. Because the band is narrow and the underlying diffusion‑index is noisy, the probability that the figure lands exactly in that interval is less than 50%, i.e., NO is preferred, but the forecast is kept uncertain due to sampling noise.

This asks whether the ISM Services PMI for July 2026 (scheduled release August 5, 2026) falls in the 53.0-53.9 bracket. The ISM Services PMI has typically ranged between 50-55 in recent periods, with readings around 52-53 common. A specific 1.0-point bracket (53.0-53.9) has a relatively low probability given the diffusion index's variability. Assigned 0.20 YES. Main uncertainty: the PMI could land in adjacent brackets (52.0-52.9 or 54.0-54.9) with similar or higher probability.
